A quiet middle and two busy weekend days: 44 changes merged, thirty-four of them on Sunday and Saturday. The widget's Edit Habits screen was rebuilt around fifteen findings from a phone. Weekly habits now get a completion rate that means something. The roundup of free templates grew to twelve, every price checked live. Three new pages explain the widget, progress bars in Notion and tracking habits with friends. The example week in the public template went live on Sunday and has rolled itself forward every night since.

Sunday finished the previous weekend's work. Monday and Tuesday are empty. Thursday brought the widget rework and the roundup refresh. Saturday was the second peak.

The arcs
In rough chronological order.
The example week goes live
Of the people who copied the public template since September, not one edited a journal page before leaving. The copy opened on an empty week. The template now carries seven example pages, one per weekday, titled so they show in the weekly view and dated to cover today and the six days before. The switch was flipped early on Sunday. The nightly job that rolls the pages forward has run every night since, each run moving all seven pages by one day. When you connect, the example pages in your copy go to the trash so your real journal starts clean. The sync ignores them even if they linger.
Private habits and a widget that knows its state
Each habit in the widget's Edit Habits view has a Private checkbox. A private habit never appears when someone opens your profile from a leaderboard, in a comparison, in a group roster or as the subject of a duel. Your own totals still count it. The widget also stopped failing quietly. An account whose Notion connection is gone gets a read-only mode with a reconnect link. If the account behind an embed was deleted, or the embed still carries an old link, the widget shows its demo instead of a blank. It reloads itself once the embed receives the right link. If the database you connected sits at the top level of your workspace, there is no page to put the widget into. The start page now explains that case instead of reporting a failed embed. It shows how to place the widget on any page by hand.
Sunday's smaller fixes
The mail that nudges you to join a competition no longer names a date from which your ticks would count. The competition rules decide that, not the mail. The connect page's background check writes one clear line when it gives up instead of a stack of warnings. A sync whose entry count differs from the expected one is logged as information rather than as a warning. The footer's Explore column became four small groups side by side. The launch trailer's closing card lost its start date so the scene can be re-rendered any time. Two test-suite fixes kept the nightly browser run green.
Edit Habits, rebuilt from a phone
A tester went through the widget's Edit Habits view in the Notion app on a phone and came back with fifteen numbered findings. Four review rounds later the view is rebuilt. Rows sit fully inside the list at every widget width. Every row and panel button shares one size, with icons only on narrow embeds. The habit name is edited in the row header, with Done, Discard and Delete beside it. Undo on a deleted habit looks like Discard. Dragging pauses while a row is open for editing, so a tap cannot reorder by accident. The list shows a chevron only where more rows lie in that direction. Below the list one controls row holds the add form and the week-start picker as two pills. A habit you add scrolls into view. In a short Notion embed the headings hide so at least one habit row stays visible. One real bug surfaced along the way: a discarded rename could come back when the name field lost focus. It no longer does.
One look for every text link
Links in running text had one shared style and about a dozen local copies of it. Around thirty links on the legal, support and about pages had no underline at rest. Now there is one prose default: a plain link inside a paragraph, table cell or list item renders as a text link, underlined, in the site's link colour. On the pink panels the links switch to a darker pair so the contrast holds. The one decorative link on the home page keeps its own look. Twelve component-level link rules are gone.
The template roundup, refreshed and linked
The roundup of free Notion habit tracker templates carries most of this site's search traffic. Ahead of the January peak every price was re-verified live. One template that is no longer for sale was dropped. Four templates that Google's AI overview names were added, each with a screenshot. The comparison table and the decision matrix now hold twelve rows. A new FAQ answers whether Notion's own habit tracker is free. The post grew from about 2,600 to about 3,600 words. The home page and nine guides now link to it with one editorial sentence each. The template page stopped competing with it. It now leads with what only it has: automatic streaks, duels and the live demo.
A faster home page
The mobile page-speed score of the home page had slipped from 100 to 89 in early October. The cause was a build-tool update that began preloading all eight web fonts on every page. The build now keeps only the two faces the first screen renders in, the heading serif and the body sans. The public stats request that two home-page components each made on every visit is now made once and shared between them.
Weekly habits get an honest completion rate
The back of a streak card shows a completion rate. For habits scheduled by the week or every few days that rate was meaningless. The counters behind it never carried over from one day to the next, so the card showed 0 of 0 on most days. The counters are now lifetime period counters. One closed period counts one. One period met with its quota reached counts one met. The rate is met over closed. Existing numbers are not rewritten. A scheduled habit starts accumulating from its first period close after Saturday's deploy. The card's existing "This week" line covers the gap until then. Changing a habit's schedule restarts its counters for now. The card label for weekly habits is still to follow.
Three new ways into the site
A new page describes the Notion habit tracker widget: what it shows, how to set it up in three steps, a click-to-load live demo and five FAQ answers. It shows no widget link anywhere, not even a placeholder, because the link is personal and belongs on a private page. A new guide explains how to build a progress bar in a Notion habit tracker with formulas. It is honest about where the formula approach stops and shows how the widget's live bars pick up from there. The post about social habit tracking was rebuilt into a comparison guide for tracking habits with friends: a shared database, a two-person template or Notion Habit Heroes with each person's own database. Along the way the site states in one sentence what Notion Habit Heroes is: a social habit tracker that runs on your own Notion database, available as a Notion integration. The same sentence feeds the structured data search engines read, with an alternate name and the official profiles.
Under the hood
The server moved to the latest Spring Boot patch release. Its build image, JSON library and Python tooling image took routine updates. The site's dependencies got their automatically merged bumps on Thursday. Design source files that had been sitting in the site's asset folder, ten megabytes of them, were moved out of the build after they made a deploy time out. The release tooling can now publish the server image to a second registry behind a vulnerability scan gate. A set of operations scripts and a runbook for day-to-day production work were written down. A search-console review set the content priorities for the coming weeks. This log's own date window was fixed so a merge late on the start day no longer slips between editions. The widget test suite resets shared state between spec files, which had caused one flaky run.
Compiled from the merge history across the Notion Habit Heroes app and this site, October 18 to 24, 2026. Monday and Tuesday are empty on the map. Sunday and Saturday carried seventeen merges each.
