Season 0: Founding Heroes opened on October 1. The week around it merged 31 changes in two bursts: Monday and Wednesday before the start, Saturday and Sunday after it. The launch trailer went out. The knight on the logo was redrawn and centred. The widget's layout on a phone was fixed. The season showed as running a day early, which the site now corrects for. Since Sunday evening, connecting Notion for the first time enrols you in the running season automatically.

The arcs
In rough chronological order.
The trailer and a new hero loop
The Season 0 trailer is cut. It comes from the same automated recording that drives the demo: tick habits in Notion, update the widget, climb a leaderboard, duel a friend, close on the site's address. Three cuts exist, one for feeds, one widescreen, one vertical for Shorts and Reels, each 24 seconds long with a synthesized sound layer timed to the clicks. The silent 14-second loop at the top of the landing page is the same recording. Notion Habit Heroes has a YouTube channel now. The trailer is its first upload. The footer links to it.
The knight, redrawn and centred
The knight on the shield was redrawn by hand this week: cleaner curves, an open gap between arm and torso, a wider wedge between cape and sword. Then it was moved. The old figure sat up and to the left inside the shield. It now sits optically centred. The new mark is live everywhere on the site: header, favicon, the app icons of the home-screen widget, every social preview card. Behind it, a single source file now produces every logo variant, so the next change to the knight is one edit instead of eleven.
Season 0 showed as running a day early
On Wednesday afternoon the featured season flipped to running, hours before October 1 had begun anywhere. The check that activates a competition asks whether the start date has arrived in the easternmost time zone on earth, 14 hours ahead of UTC. The displayed state is now derived from the start date itself. The widget, the home page card and the rules page said "starts tomorrow" until midnight, as they should have. The season's scoring window is October 1 to 31. Whether the early flip counted anything before that for the people who were already in is being checked. Anything it did count will be corrected. The activation check itself moves to a saner clock in a follow-up. One more correction on the rules page: the tie-break order is applied by the leaderboard automatically. Two sentences still said it was applied by hand.
The widget on a phone, plus a dead end
Two screenshots from real phones showed the widget's embed in the Notion app at its worst. The header had its time zone and its day count on one line, overlapping once the count reached three digits. The Competition tab clipped its label. The leaderboard showed about half of its seven columns, with tall rows from wrapped headers. All three are fixed for embeds narrower than 600 pixels: smaller header labels that trim instead of overlapping, a short "Comp" label on the tab, a tighter table that fits five to six columns on a 360 to 390 pixel screen. The fixes were measured in a browser at those widths, not yet inside the Notion app itself. If your embed still looks off, a screenshot helps. Separately, a dead end on the Season 0 leaderboard: tapping a participant who had joined the season but never connected Notion switched the view to their stats, rendered nothing, hid the way back. Navigation now switches first, so the back button is always there. A participant without habits gets a line saying so.
Season 0 opens: the announcement
Season 0: Founding Heroes opened on Thursday, October 1. On Saturday the announcement went to everyone who had verified their address and not opted out of mail, in three variants: a reconnect note for accounts whose sync is paused, a join note for accounts, a register note for the waitlist. One knock-on fix landed Sunday. Confirming a newsletter address now also counts as verifying it, so a confirmed waitlist address is in the audience for season mails as well, not only for the digest.
Duel results name a forfeit
When a duel ends by forfeit, the result card used to say only "X wins!" With the winner trailing on points, that read like a bug. Someone reported it as one. The card now says who forfeited, with a line underneath that the duel was decided by forfeit, not by points. Ties and plain wins read as before.
Joining the season, one click fewer
Sunday brought three changes about getting into Season 0. First, connected users who are not in the season now see it: the success card after connecting Notion offers a one-click join. The logged-in home page shows a dismissible banner with the same button. Second, since Sunday evening, connecting Notion for the first time enrols you in the running featured season automatically. Points come from the same nightly tracking, so there is nothing to do. You can leave from the competition page at any time. Re-connects and database changes never enrol anyone. People who connected before this week are not enrolled retroactively. A sentence explaining the automatic join is going onto the connect page next. Third, a one-time mail to people who are tracking but not in the season is written and goes out this week. Alongside, joins are now counted by where they came from, so we can see which door people use.
Under the hood
Draft previews of the site can now talk to the server, so a change can be checked on a preview with a real login before it ships. The nightly end-to-end run attaches its failure screenshots to the alert mail instead of only naming them. Routine dependency updates on the site land as one grouped change per week instead of one deploy each. The site's stylesheets went through a colour sweep: 169 hard-coded colour values became named design tokens, pixel-identical before and after, groundwork for a contrast pass. One dependency advisory on the server was closed with a pinned version. Two small workflow tools for the backlog shipped alongside.
Compiled from the merge history across the Notion Habit Heroes app and this site, September 28 to October 4, 2026. Tuesday and Thursday are empty on the map. Thursday was October 1, the day the season opened. The week merged before and after it.
